A turkey leg printable supplies the finishing pieces for a paper bird. Use it with a separate body and feather fan, or let children invent a long-legged turkey character. The craft pattern is a simplified design for paper projects, so children can choose the length and pose that suit their work.
Plan the position first
Lay the turkey body on the table and slide the printed legs underneath it. Try a straight standing pose, a small outward angle, or a playful walking position. Leave enough overlap behind the body to hold the pieces securely. Check that the finished bird still fits on its background page.
- Color the legs and feet before cutting.
- Cut the larger shapes first, then trim smaller corners with adult help as needed.
- Arrange both legs beneath the body without glue.
- Glue the upper ends behind the body.
- Attach the whole turkey to a background so the narrow pieces stay supported.
Try folded-paper legs
For a bouncy display, fold two narrow paper strips back and forth and attach the printed feet to the ends. Make the folds before gluing the strips behind the body. Keep the accordion legs short if the turkey will be carried home in a folder.
Use the craft as a position-word activity: put one foot beside a leaf, place the other below the body, or move both feet closer together. Children can explain the pose they chose and add a sentence about where their turkey is going. For a table card, attach the bird to folded cardstock rather than expecting the narrow legs to hold it upright.
Frequently asked questions
Will these legs make the turkey stand by itself?
The paper pattern is intended for a flat craft. Use a folded-card backing or another support if you want an upright display.
Can I make the legs longer?
Yes. Add paper strips between the body and feet, then mount the turkey on a background page to protect the joins.
