This Spanish Thanksgiving worksheet uses an original short passage about Ana, her family, and a thankful message. Students read for concrete details, then answer four questions in Spanish. The text provides one fictional family’s activity rather than suggesting that every Spanish-speaking household celebrates the holiday in the same way.
Preview a few useful words
Before reading, review plato, servilleta, hoja, vecina, and dar gracias. Ask students to predict which words might describe a meal and which might describe a message. Keep the vocabulary list brief so students still have a reason to look closely at the passage.
- Read the passage once for the general idea.
- Read again and underline the people, numbers, and actions.
- Answer each question using information from the story.
- Find the sentence that supports each answer.
- Compare with the answer guide and revise any incomplete response.
Support different reading levels
A beginning learner can listen while following the printed text, then answer with a short phrase. A more confident learner can write full sentences and change the subject or verb to match the question. Pair students to take turns reading a sentence and explaining it in their own words.
For an extension, have students write a new thank-you message of two or three sentences. They can use “Gracias por…” followed by a specific action. Invite them to choose a person they know and keep private details out of a public classroom display. The worksheet is reading practice, not a translation of a third-party passage or a summary of Thanksgiving history.
