Give a turkey a new identity as a proud graduate. A square cap, a simple gown and a rolled paper diploma make this disguise recognizable with only a few shapes. The project works for a Thanksgiving school assignment or a playful display celebrating a learning milestone. Children can choose the colors and write a short explanation of what their turkey has learned.
How to use this printable
- Choose the graduate’s subject or achievement. It might be reading, kindness, counting or learning to share supplies.
- Color the gown as one large shape and add a contrasting collar. Leave the turkey’s hands or wings visible if they will hold the diploma.
- Draw the cap as a broad diamond with a small band beneath it. Add a short tassel using a line or a small paper strip.
- Create a rolled diploma shape, attach the costume and write the turkey’s graduation message. Explain why the disguise might fool someone looking for a bird.
Make the activity your own
Use the project to discuss accomplishments that come from practice. A child can write “I kept trying when…” on the back or add a thankful note for someone who helped. A flat paper diploma travels more easily than a bulky tube. For a group display, give each graduate a different subject and ask classmates to identify the subject from one accessory or sentence.
Printing and questions
Print the PDF on US Letter paper in portrait orientation. Start with one copy and check the preview before making a classroom set. Use ordinary paper for a worksheet, or cardstock when the finished piece needs to stand up to handling.
Does the cap need string?
No. A drawn tassel is the simplest choice and keeps the project flat.
Can this be used outside graduation season?
Yes. The graduate is a costume idea for the turkey and can represent any learning achievement.
