A Thanksgiving drawing game brings a table together with paper, pencils, and a short list of prompts. One player draws while the others try to name the word. This independent Pictionary-style activity uses original holiday prompts and simple house rules; it is not an official game product or a reproduction of branded cards.
What to make
Choose prompts that can be shown with recognizable objects or actions. Pie, a leaf, and setting the table are easier to sketch than an abstract idea. Mixed-age teams work well because one person can identify part of a drawing while another connects the whole idea. Agree that drawing ability does not matter: a few clear lines are enough.
How to use this printable
- Print and cut the prompt slips, fold them so the words are hidden, and place them in a bowl.
- Divide into teams or play as one cooperative group, giving each artist a fresh sheet and a pencil.
- Set a one-minute drawing round. The artist may draw pictures but may not write letters, numbers, or speak the answer.
- Award one point for a correct guess, or simply pass the bowl to the next artist and keep a shared list of solved prompts.
Make the activity your own
For beginners, read the prompt privately to the artist and allow a practice round without a timer. For a larger group, put the drawing paper on an easel where everyone can see. A harder round can use the action prompts instead of objects. If a word is unfamiliar, let the artist choose another slip; the activity should build participation rather than reward knowing every holiday term.
Questions before you begin
Can two people draw together?
Yes. A cooperative pair can take turns adding lines, which is useful when a younger child wants help getting started.
What should happen if nobody guesses?
Reveal the prompt, let the artist explain one detail, and move on. Keep the mood friendly rather than spending too long on one card.
