Printable turkey eyes are a small detail that can change an entire Thanksgiving craft. Use them with a paper turkey, a paper plate, a bag puppet, or a disguise costume. Printed eyes are convenient when you want a flat paper craft that stores easily, and children can add their own expression with a few pencil marks.
What to make
Choose the eye size after deciding on the body. A pair that looks large on a small turkey may be just right for a playful puppet. Keep pairs together when cutting, especially in a group activity. If a child wants asymmetrical eyes or a sideways glance, encourage the choice and ask what the turkey might be looking at.
How to use this printable
- Print the eye sheet and hold an uncut pair over the turkey body to judge the scale before cutting.
- Cut around the outside border of each eye, leaving a little white space if that makes the shapes easier to handle.
- Place the eyes above the beak and try a few distances between them before applying a small amount of glue.
- Add eyebrows, eyelashes, or a speech bubble to show whether the bird is excited, curious, or surprised.
Make the activity your own
Use eye placement as a quick visual comparison lesson. Make one face with eyes looking left and another looking right, then build a simple story about what each bird sees. A child practicing scissor control can cut a rectangle around a pair instead of following the curves. For a classroom material station, pre-cut a few larger pairs so children who need support can join immediately.
Questions before you begin
Do these replace plastic craft eyes?
Yes. They provide a flat paper alternative for projects where a printed expression is enough. They do not move like plastic eyes.
Can I color the eyes differently?
Yes. Add colored irises or patterned eyelids while keeping enough contrast for the pupils to remain clear.
